RECORDING: Children’s Songs

2010 October 21

What children's songs would you like to hear the Pea Pickin' Hearts record?

Jon and I really first sang together as an exercise & attempt to get our baby to sleep as an infant.

We amused ourselves by singing him to sleep in harmony.  We always mused about recording a children’s CD of classic songs, but we never could find the magic that would make ours different.  As the Pea Pickin’ Hearts, we have found our voice and are revisiting our dream of recording the classics…Hillbilly Lullabies, if you will

Here are a few of the children’s songs we hope to make our own with a little finger pickin’ & an extra verse or two:

Georgie Pordgie
Georgie Porgie, pudding and pie, Kiss’d the girls and made them cry;
When the girls came out to play, Georgie Porgie ran away.

Home Sweet Home
Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.

If All the World were Paper
If all the world were paper, and all the sea were ink,
and all the trees were bread and cheese, What should be do for drink?

Oats, Peas, Beans & Barley Grow
Oats, peas, beans, and barley grow, Can you or I or any one know,
How oats, peas, beans and barley grow?

Have any other suggestions for us?

Froggie Went a Courtin’ (although that pistol by his side might raise an eyebrow or two these days)

Jack Be Nimble (can’t imagine why I think that’s a good choice)

    You are my Sunshine

I LOVE the idea of Froggie went a Courtin’…I wonder if it is public domain? I’ll have to look into that one. We LOVE raising eyebrows, ha.
